Yet again, a dazzling and fantastic horse riding holiday in Cheshire, brought to you by Equestrian Escapes!  Equestrian Escapes are based in Cheshire and thereby have many equestrian opportunities for you here!  Cheshire Horse Riding Holidays are of high standard, and come under our recommendation.

With this horse riding break, Equestrian Escapes are offering free treatment at the hotel spa – what more could anyone want after a day of riding?  On that note, you are able to pick and choose how much riding you do, and which of it will be lessons or hacking out. This horse riding break allows you to choose your itinerary, and Cheshire has so much to offer when you have time off!  The local towns are very inviting, and the pretty town of Tarporley (roughly ten minutes drive) is host to some lovely shops, and great pub food if you wish to dine away for the night…  Yet, you will find the food at the hotel simply divine!  Using local produce, you will be delighted by the delicious menu and extensive wine list.  The hotel’s facilities are equally as good, with beautiful gardens, swimming pool and tennis court and of course a selection of wonderful spa treatments…

When it comes to riding, you may wish to start off with a lesson, so that we can properly allocate your horse to you, and so we can gauge what level of riding you are at.  You will be able to enjoy the surrounding areas of the hotel, and will hack out down some quiet country lanes and scenic bridlepaths.  Delamere Forest is Cheshire’s most expansive woodland, and dog-walkers and horse-riders alike come from miles around to dive into it’s magical depths…

If you are a non-rider, and wish to explore Cheshire on anything other than horseback, then the historic City of Chester awaits you with it’s black and white tudor-style shopping rows, and there is always Beeston Castle with wonderful views of five counties and miles around!  You may hire a bicycle to get around on, and there are many fantastic walks that you can go on, and lots of country pubs with roaring fires that are wonderful to sit beside with a book!

This holiday offer lasts until October 31st, so get in contact with Equestrian Escapes now to book your luxury horse riding holiday in Cheshire!

Words From Eduardo

Dear Equestrian Escapes,

I recently travelled to Slovenia and came across some horses that reminded me of a horse-riding holiday that I booked through you.  I went alone, to Barcelona and had the most wonderful time.  I remember especially that the horses were so healthy and well looked after, and Barcelona itself was so pretty.  I am currently travelling around Europe on business, but when I return I think I may just ring you to book a well-deserved horse-riding breakItaly, perhaps this time!  Or perhaps I should try something entirely different?  Maybe the side-saddle?…….

I look forward to speaking to you on my return,

Many thanks,

Eduardo (Horse Expert)

A PROPER Castle

Friday, May 14th, 2010

My Father used to love old buildings, and whilst growing up my parents used to take us around old broken down ruins and French Chateaus often tumbling down the hill side.  The usual scenario would be that we would be driving in some remote area of France, a grey wreck would be seen in the distance and Dad would decide THAT would be the picnic spot.  So, the usual climbing through thorns, and having to route around for the odd dock leaf because of stinging nettles everywhere, would ensue.  This could take a while, but Dad was dedicated.  Upon arrival, as it were, you were then made to perch on some mossy damp stone that had once been a chimney, and marvel at the arches as you munched on your bacon roll.

So, now that I was married, I thought it would be nice to stay in a proper castle.  And where better than Italy?  It really was a delight to feel the warmth of the place, and not have to zip your Musto right up to the top to prevent wind chill.  The surroundings were a complete sensation, and the castle was sheer luxury.

The Perfect Italian Castle Retreat

The beaches were as beautiful as advertised and not crowded so it was such bliss to canter along, before having the most delicious lunch.  Whilst I was thinking this could not get better, the vineyards stretched out before us, and the whole setting was breathtaking.  And that was only day one!

The most amazing holiday I have been on, a real experience, and something I would certainly suggest to anyone who is passionate about beautiful scenery, good food, luxurious buildings and above all, horses!

Many thanks, Jan Richards

Alentejo Region, Portugal…..

Friday, May 14th, 2010

If you like Portugal, and fresh fish, then the Alentejo Region is the place for you.  Fresh sardines for breakfast, cork and olive trees covering the surroundings, and the most beautiful and healthy horses you have ever seen.  It is very tranquil, and the beaches go on for miles.  Views of the Atlantic Ocean are certainly not one to pass up, and it is not every day nature’s beauty is so clearly defined around you.

The beaches are truly breathtaking as you can see

The colours of the flowers, and the varied vegetation are everywhere; be sure not to overlook it because once you are home you’re little vegetable patch will look like nothing in contrast.  If you would prefer to see the sights and not only horse ride, we were able to change it easily, and the beaches are sensational for swimming and sunbathing.  The fishing villagers are fantastic for long lunches, and walking is also gorgeous.  Porto Covo is located in a magical setting, and it is impossible for its beauty to go unnoticed.  Such a region should most certainly be explored, and I intend to go back to see more of this enchanting landscape.

My Horse Comes With Me!

Friday, May 14th, 2010

I have been on horse riding holidays before, and recently used Equestrian Escapes so I found this holiday.  I wanted to take my own horses riding and looked for the best options.  I was a competitive rider, but my husband wanted to come with me and had never ridden before.  This was not a problem, and my husband received wonderful lessons with a very patient teacher, perfect for beginners!  All of the facilities were top class and the horses clearly looked after very well.  For my own horse he was given a traditional stable not far away from the other horses.  Parking was clearly signposted, and easy to get to.  I was even able to try riding side-saddle; an experience altogether unfamiliar, but great fun nonetheless!

We were so well looked after that even the trainers were kind enough to look over my horse with me, and give me nutritional advice.  It really was a holiday packed full of fun and adventure!
