Sadly summer is drawing to an end but what a success it has been so far. We launched our brand new 5* riding package in Antequera close to Malaga and that has been a huge hit. Riders are required to fly into Malaga from their chosen airport; we then collect them and take them to their luxury Cortijo accommodation boasting spectacular views of the surrounding valley. Daily rides include dressage or jumping lessons and trail rides plus half board accommodation. The owners of the Corjito are English, there is a Spanish cook who lives on site, the horses are privately owned and very well schooled and are often competed by the girls who also live at the centre. You can stay from 3 nights to 1 week arriving any day of the week all year round! Jessica wrote the following about her recent trip out to Antequera: I had a fantastic time in Antequera it was a perfect mix of relaxation and action packed! The riding was the most scenic I have ever done and I have fallen in love with Andalucían horses! The staff were very welcoming and made sure that I had a brilliant time organising an exciting and diverse itinerary. I have never eaten so well – the food was fantastic and I got to try lots of Spanish tapas. It was an amazing few days and a great way to explore an area of Spain which is so beautiful and unspoilt. I did not want to leave, it was like a big family and I will definitely come again! Thank you! Wiltshire, also one of this year’s most popular destinations saw the launch of their new ‘adult summer camp’. This exclusive and very unique camp offers 4 adults the opportunity to spend 1 week on the famous Rushmore Estate with our host Angie and her horses. Rides include lessons, pub rides and beach rides as well as all meals. We successfully ran 3 camps this year and hope to have next year’s dates very soon. This is what Anja wrote about here recent trip to Wiltshire before booking for New Years Eve: I am now back from the adult camp last week with Angie and I thought I would drop you an email to let you know how it went. I can honestly say that Alexander and I had an absolutely fantastic time and have never felt so spoilt and relaxed on holiday before. Angie is a spectacular host and her horses are just magnificent. The rides we went on were just fabulous and was the best way of de-stressing from a city job! We ate loads, rode loads and made some great friends. We both felt like we’d known Angie all our lives. As such, we were hoping for a return visit over the New Year weekend. Would it be possible – It’s clear to see how eager we are! Regards If you like the sound of the two packages above and are interested in escaping the British winter this year then all you need to do is find a flight to Malaga, give us a call and we’ll do the rest. Alternatively if you would prefer to stay in the UK then call us for next years adult camp dates and keep your eye out for our Christmas and New Year offers including a very special one in Wiltshire…! firstname.lastname@example.org / tel. 01829 781123

Just 30 minutes from the capital of Spain is The Sierra de Guadarrama, an area of outstanding natural beauty, bursting in the culture and heritage that you would not expect to find so close to Madrid. It is a region of mountains, valleys, rivers and traditional villages with Roman and Moorish remains still very much in evidence. The countryside is rich in architectural treasures, Roman roads and bridges, castles constructed between the 12th and 15th centuries, churches and chapels from the 16th century. It is no surprise that this area was chosen by the Spanish Royal Families as their preferred area for rest and relaxation and now you can explore this remarkable region on horseback.
If you imagine the perfect riding holiday to be mixing horse riding with culture then this is the holiday for you. In the heart of The Sierra de Guadarrama you will find Mariano, a passionate and experienced horseman. He will take you riding around this remarkable area. You will be taken past some of the most famous bull breeding farms of the region along with your own private horseback tour of El Escorial, the stunning 16th century monastery and royal palace. Combine this with a luxury hotel in the mountains of The Sierra de Guadarrama and you have the perfect horse riding holiday.
This is what Shalea had to say about her horse riding experience when she travelled to Madrid in January. “I just thought you might like to get an update on my riding experience at the stables in Madrid. Mariano was absolutely incredible to ride with, he is a very safe rider and informative guide and has a fabulous personality. The riding is phenomenal, and, he has great riding horses. One of the best horse riding experiences that I have ever had! I would most highly recommend him.”

Happy New Year from all of us at Equestrian Escapes!
2010 is drawing to an end but what a year it’s been! As everyone is rushing around adding those finishing touches to the Christmas preparations, buying and wrapping those last few presents and fighting their way through the crowds at the supermarket for the big food shop I thought what perfect time to reflect on what has been a fantastic year! Find the time to take a few moments out of your busy day to read what lovely things our customers had to say about us and their 2010 holidays.
In February Sandra enjoyed a holiday in Cheshire at our Country House Hotel – “Brilliant weekend. By far the best horse-riding experience I’ve had, the teachers were patient and knowledgeable and I felt I learned a lot. The hacks were great fun and were a good opportunity to put the techniques we learned into practise, as well as a brilliant way to see the countryside. We really enjoyed our experience, can think of nothing that would have improved it.”
In March Sam and Seb travelled to Tarifa – “We had a five night break in Tarifa at the end of March, the whole experience was fantastic, the instructors were so friendly and really wanted us to learn so I would recommend it to anyone who would like to try something different. The whole thing had a great laid back vibe and you could tell that the horses were well looked after and loved it.”
In May David and Kathryn stayed in Jerez for the annual Feria – “This was our first time with Equestrian Escapes, but it will not be our last! All arrangements were efficiently made and everything worked like clockwork. The structure of the week was expertly put together – we would never have been able to do this ourselves. The accommodation chosen for us was first class and well positioned in the city centre, within walking distance of most of the attractions, and the hotel staff were so helpful, kind and courteous. The riding with Alphonso was an unbelievable experience, exciting, safe and pleasurable – not to be missed! It goes down as the best holiday ever!”
In June Georgina spent 2 nights with us on the Adult Intensive riding course in Cheshire – “I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for a lovely riding break last week. I thoroughly enjoyed the riding in Cheshire, Sandra and the staff were very welcoming. Your expertise was much appreciated when planning my schedule, I was really happy with the lunge and flat lessons and the number of rides out that I did – it all worked out perfectly. Except of course for the fact that after 12 years of no riding my body was physically battered afterwards! Thank goodness Chris found a seat-saver for me before my 3 hour ride! Thank you again, I would thoroughly recommend Equestrian Escapes and hope to be back sometime with my sister in tow.”
In July Mrs Smillie travelled to Portugal - “Great! The setting was beautiful and placed on the Obidos lagoon. The service was easy and hassle free which made the whole trip run so smoothly. The eco-camp that I stayed at was really different but I enjoyed it so much. The tipi was lovely, the bed was very comfy and I slept like a baby every night! The quality of the riding was excellent and the beach ride was exceptional. I could not believe my eyes when i got there. Our horses were absolutely gorgeous and so incredibly soft natured. In all of my riding experience, I never have come across such fantasticly well natured animals. They were a total delight. My overall experience was great, I thoroughly enjoyed my four day stay and would have liked to stay for much longer! I plan on recommending this holiday to both my family and friends!”
In September Jessica and James went to East Devon - “Having recently enjoyed an Equestrian Escapes holiday to Devon I thought I would write and tell you about it. The tuition at the riding stables is second to none and the hacks over Woodbury Common are a slice of heaven.”
In November Jean-Pierre and Elizabeth travelled to Berkshire – “Hello!
Our family recently booked a short break with you and stayed at Maggie’s in Berkshire. We had an unbelievably fabulous time. The accommodations were perfect and it was wonderful to wake up to the sound of hoof-steps in front of our cottage and open the shutters to friendly equine faces across the yard. Maggie was amazing — she offered to watch our 3 year old daughter, Axelle, while my husband and I had lessons. The two of them got on famously to the point that our daughter was completely devastated to leave the farm. She sobbed and sobbed as we said goodbye to Maggie. (This is after Axelle had announced to us that she wanted to stay with Maggie and be one of her “children” and “Papa and Mama could go back to London” and she would walk home later. “Is London far to walk to?”) And best of all, my husband and I think we actually made some progress with our riding! We definitely will be back! Thanks so much for offering a most memorable holiday!”
I hope you enjoyed reading this little handful of testimonials from our customers. If you require any information about the holidays you have read about or any of the packages on our website please contact us in the office on 01829 781 123, or email email@example.com
Finally have a absolutley fantastic Christmas and New Year from all of us at Equestrain Escapes.
I have been researching horse articles today and came across this poem, just what is a horse? I think this describes it perfectly!
What is a horse?
A horse has eyes as dainty as a mink.
The grace is interrupted merely by a blink.
A horse is beauty.
What is a horse?
A horse is a tree in a storm that never goes down.
A horse is a weathered rock that stays around.
A horse is ancient.
What is a horse?
A horse waltzes like breeze over rivers.
She curvets and leaps like rain shivers.
A horse is a marionette.
What is a horse?
A horse is determination, that never stops flowing.
A horse is fondness, that never stops growing.
A horse is poetic power.

Follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims 24th October 2010!
This unique trail ride will take you high up into the stunning Tramuntana Mountains that run for about 90 kilometres from the South West to the North East of Mallorca; the range runs close to the sea and offers breathtaking views of the coastline from many of the higher peaks – what better way to absorb this amazing scenery than by horseback!
You will take the ancient pilgrim’s path, the Cami Vell de Lluc, to the Monastery at Lluc. Passing along gravel and earth tracks, through the river bed and beyond the ancient holm oak forests.
After spending the night in this beautiful old Monastery you will tack up once again and prepare for the downward journey home.
At first you will take a different route through what looks like an enchanted wood, eventually returning to a familiar landscape, down the steeper paths to the shallower inclines of the Tramuntana.
Sadly this brings you to the end of your journey but what better way to end than with a traditional Mallorcan supper of paella and a crisp chilled glass of white wine, then head back to your charming Andalucian hotel for one final night.
Please note we do have other dates available for this ride.

As the nights start to draw in and the leaves start to tumble we enter the season of extra mucking out and large winter rugs! But don’t despair; we are also entering the season of crisp mornings and cool, often cloud free afternoons, ideal for winter horse riding.
Horse riding is a 12 months of the year sport not like cricket and rugby where enthusiasts must take a sometimes unwelcome break from their passions for months at a time. Horses need riding all year round and although the hours that you can ride may become limited, the diversity of riding out country can increase! As the hay and straw is cut from the fields many acres of stubble fields beckon to the seasoned rider promising long stretches of canter paths. The beaches too have miraculously cleared after the busy summer months and all true riding enthusiasts know there is nothing quite as exhilarating as galloping along an abandoned stretch of golden sand during your winter horse riding!
As the weather becomes colder we are all guilty of spending more and more time inside in often stuffy and over heated houses, wrap up warm and climb aboard a walking central heating machine to enjoy the changing scenery of Britain.
Many foreign travellers will tell you that one of Britain’s most alluring qualities is the four definite seasons that we experience each year and certainly one of the best places to experience this is from horseback! One of my favourite activities around Christmas is to saddle up and ride through the lanes enjoying all of the houses Christmas decorations, it makes me feel festive and hacking out on Christmas morning is a treat I will never deny myself! For those wanting to enjoy a few days away from the stress of everyday living then a riding holiday is a perfect way to rest and unwind. Two days spent riding out in the glorious English countryside and two nights spent in a country house hotel staring into a blazing log fires recounting your experiences is a recipe for success. Horse riding is good for mind and soul, it is the best medicine for stress I have yet to find! With the extra calories burnt you can come home at night and not feel so guilty tucking into the odd mince pie.
Autumn and winter are readily approaching and what better place to appreciate the wonderful rusting colours of fall and the morning frost on the ground than from one of the ten uniquely decorated bedrooms in our luxury country house hotel.
The hotel stands in 17 acres of formal gardens and parkland with wonderful views across the Cheshire countryside towards the Welsh mountains – an ideal touring base for Chester and North Wales and a perfect pre-Christmas romantic setting!
The on-site beauty therapy suite offers a wide range of treatments including non-surgical and surgical treatments. Our favourites include the spiritual healing hand ritual – a combination of a deluxe manicure with an energy boosting massage, ideal therapy for your hands after a long days riding. And the back neck and shoulder massage to sooth those aching muscles.
The famous Roman walled City of Chester is only fifteen minutes away. Packed with culture and its magical magpie buildings it’s an abundance of character and is a place not to be missed when visiting Cheshire. From the 12th November the streets are lit up making Chester the ideal place to do your Christmas shopping and soak up the festive atmosphere.
